The 51st Fest

This past month has been a whirlwind of busyness for me. Barely a minute to breathe! Now that we have reached the Labor day weekend, I am hoping things will slow down a bit.

The sign pictured here was painted by this year's Main Gate muralists on our Graphics crew for the Philly Folk Fest. It being the 51st year of the festival, the theme was all things related to "Area 51". There were aliens landing, spaceships hovering, and an "out-of-this-world lineup of musicians!

Mike Cross closed out Saturday night's show after Little Feat brought the house down! Then Sunday brought the horns of Trombone Shorty's band. Absolutely awesome.

I figured out tonight that I have been painting with the Graphics crew for twenty-eight of those fifty-one years! IMHO the fest art just keeps getting better and better. Here's a question for my festie-goer readers: What was the theme of the art at your first fest? Can you remember?
