GardenFair at Winterthur Museum and Country Estate

Yesterday I went to the GardenFair at Winterthur Country Estate down in Delaware.
It's going on today too. Beautiful place! An artist friend of mine, Bev Benson, was an exhibitor there. Since the theme was "Art and the Garden" and she often paints flowers and garden themes. her art fits right in! If you're looking for something to do today, this is the last day.

Bev's booth is right in front the Museum. (Winterthur is HUGE and the exhibitors are pretty spread out.) In addition to artists exhibiting and selling their work, there are all kinds of garden-related products on sale. Plants of all kinds, seeds, containers, and - although I didn't sample it, I was told it was delicious - PUMPKIN ICE CREAM! There was music and denonstrations too.

In my opinion, the art of all three artists is worth checking out!


If you go and you're from my area, here are directions:
Head south on Rte 1 towards Chadds Ford. After you pass the Corporate Headquarters of Wawa (cant-miss-it sign on left) turn LEFT at next light-VALLEYBROOK RD
After .5 miles, turn RIGHT onto IVY MILL RD
After 1.8 Mi, LEFT onto CONCORD RD.
After .2 mi RIGHT onto SMITH BRIDGE RD.
Stay straight for about 7 miles here. The street changes names twice but you're just staying straight. Use you odometer for this because at the next turn THERE WASN'T A STREET SIGN!

4.8 miles on Smith Bridge Rd
1.6 miles on Smiths Bridge Rd
0.6 miles on Center Meeting Rd
TURN LEFT onto PYLES FORD RD (no sign-it's a little old narrow country road)
After .8 mi, LEFT onto KENNET PIKE/DE 52
After .2 miles you'll see a huge sign on the left for Winterthur
