The end of January is closing in, and it's time for me to check back with my goals I set back a few weeks ago. I had resolved to try my best to do SOME art EVERY DAY this year. Not a masterpiece every day; just something! Could be a quick five-minute sketch of something, or it could be just working on whatever painting I'm in the middle of. Trying to be realistic, I didn't put the stipulation that it had to be good or deep, or inventive,... all those things are great when you find them in art, but when your life is as busy as mine things can't always be peachy! You gotta just do the best you can!
I'm happy to report that it has worked out rather well. I think there were only about 2 or 3 days that were so busy I didn't manage to do any art, but on the rest of the days, I succeeded. Many were quick sketches, but some were not. I have a portrait commission that I've been working on, and a couple mural projects that are currently pending. In between, I've been fitting in things here and there. Some of those quick sketches could lead to painting ideas to develop!
I am a firm believer in the 4 G's: Goals are Great tools to Get you Going!

I love the 4 G's phrase. I am a bit creative but I have very little time, and I am trying to get my craft area ready to go. I think it is great that you purposed to do some art every day.
I think I might have to write my goal on a paper and put it on my bathroom mirror for a while?

ReplyDeleteUsing the bathroom mirror is a great idea. I usually keep my goals posted near my computer so I see them every day. Hey, whatever works, right?!
I can certainly empathize with you about the "little time" situation. I always have tons to do and little time for it. Somehow what HAS to get done, usually gets done and the rest,...well there's always tomorrow! You can only do so much, then you gotta leave it up to the big guy upstairs to help you through it.
