One Year Anniversary Painting Workshops!...Almost

"Daffodils"
Almost a year ago, I agreed to join up with Grumbacher paints and Michaels Arts and Crafts Stores to become an instructor of their acrylic painting classes. I discovered that I thoroughly enjoy the activity of painting with my students, and of sharing the info that I have about painting with them. I never tire of viewing the variety of results at the end of each class! Every person has his or her own style that always shines through. My students are always eager to learn, always excited to create their own masterpieces.

I have found that some folks don't take a class because they are afraid to pick up a brush and make a mark. They have the desire to be proficient at painting, but lack confidence in their abilities, and they give up before even trying. To that, I say, give yourself a break! You have to be bad before you can be good. You have to be good before you can be great,... Enjoy the learning process!

Creative visual people need to express their thoughts visually. The painting workshops which I teach at Michaels can help you find that outlet and experience what a joy it is to create your own painting!.
You only need to START PAINTING! Play with the paint a little. Have fun with it. We go through the process, step-by-step.. The more you paint, the faster your art develops. It's like a muscle.

I urge you to respond to that inner voice that longs for creative expression by registering for a class or two. Find out how much fun it can be! At $25, it's a great value, too.

September's schedule has been created. Are Wednesday evenings better for you? Or do you prefer Saturday afternoons?

Graphics Committee, Philly Folk Fest 2011

This is what I've been up to this past week,...
I'll post pix of the artwork we did as soon as I get a bit more time. (I have some faux painting and mural work ahead of me, as well as more painting classes)

A big thanks from Tom to all our crew! Awesome job, everyone!

Fest was a little wet this year, but we still enjoyed it. We saw some terrific acts: Dave Bromberg, Tempest, Trombone Shorty,... Levon Helm closed it out Sunday night. Can't wait till next year!

50th Philadelphia Folk Festival in Schwenksville, PA

A longtime volunteer for the Philadelphia Folk Festival, this is the week I usually go up and camp there for ten days. The first 7 are work days, where my crew paints signs, murals and special sculptures that decorate the entire concert/crafts area. followed by three days of fun, music and crafts, then another long day of labor-intensive strike down work.

This year, the crew is taking care of business while their fearless leader (my husband) is home trying to work on find better health (he has a stomach thing going on.) I've been home too, (hey, he's my hubby! ...where he goes, I go!) making sure he is well-supplied with Pedialyte, ginger ale, rice, chicken noodle soup,...

We will both hopefully get up there soon. Meanwhile, we've been in touch with the crew up there now. They are dealing with lots of wet weather, which is a drag. Paint never dries when it rains, even when we have them under tents. But you know? Things could be worse! I do hope that the wet forecast for this next week doesn't make this year's 50th Philadelphia Folk festival as wet as Musikfest was.
Take a look! (Such a shame.)

Lettering job

A couple weeks ago I worked a few days on the set of Upper Darby's Summer stage's "Titanic!"
They needed a person with a good lettering hand to write a couple hundred names of people who perished. Below is a link to a picture showing some of the names.

Last Friday I saw the play. Very nice production!

If you care greatly about your home, this will impact you.
I hope it will bring about changes for the better in many ways.

This week-Seascapes

I have been busy scheduling the next month/two of painting workshops. Still working on some September times, but August is full of painting opportunities in two stores!

This week's seascape will be a version of the Rock Crashers seascape which we have painted in class before, but with some differences. This new one shows some sandy beach area and it has changed to horizontal orientation. I will be teaching it this week three times and in two places:

At King of Prussia store:
Wed evening AUG 3 at 6:30pm

At Conshohocken store:
Wed afternoon AUG 3 at 3pm
Sat afternoon AUG 6 at 1pm.
(There will also be a free demo there Sat morning from 10 till noon! If you haven't yet taken a class, but have been considering it, stopping in at a demo can give you a better idea if this is what you are looking for. You can get all the details about the workshops as well as see some of the finished paintings in person!)

Come paint with me!
